What is the difference between an escort card and a place card?

There is always confusion about the difference between escort cards and place cards which is understandable! Escort cards usually feature at the entrance of your wedding venue with the guest name and table number included. This card escorts the guest to a specific table where they will be dining. A place card sits at a specific seat at the table. Often, both a place card and an escort card are not necessary unless you have a specific guest seating chart in mind for each table. Most often, only the head table will have both as it is more important for you to have a specific seating arrangement for your friends and family with your maid of honor and best man sitting next to you.
